19 Feb 2009 - "Scottish Film Archives"

Publicised as our celebration of Homecoming Scotland, this was an eagerly awaited meeting. Our Speaker, Ann Cameron, librarian at the Scottish Film Archives in Glasgow, and her technician, Fiona, gave us a fascinating and thorough introduction to their website which has much to offer the family historian by way of useful pictorial illustration of Scotland in days gone by. 

This was followed by a 15 minute showing of archival film relevant to Ayrshire and this made interesting and entertaining viewing. Feedback from the audience indicates that, although everyone was interested to learn about the film website, there was disappointment that the Speaker had chosen to show so little actual archival film despite the specific requests of Speakers Secretary, Barbara
This was followed by a more substantial refreshment than our normal tea/coffee and biscuit and our thanks go to the members of committee and Graeme’s Mum for providing the goodies.
